ACADEMIC BACKGROUND

B.A., L.L.B., D.T.M., Fellow Member of the Institute of Company Secretaries of India (FCS).
A double graduate in Arts and Law and holds postgraduate Diploma in Tax Management from Bombay University in which secured 1st position in the exams. In law Exams, secured 1st class second position in the Sagar University.

PROFESSIONAL EXPERIENCE

N. L. BHATIA is one of the senior most Company Secretaries in practice since 1982. Presently practicing in the name and style of N.L. Bhatia & Associates, (a partnership firm).

After acquiring membership of the Institute in 1967, he served in Secretarial and Legal Departments of J.K. Group and Voltas (a Tata Group Company) and entered in practice in 1982. He thus has to his credit experience of over 30 years.

As a practitioner of long standing, he has developed expertise in all facets of Company Law and Capital Market regulations and regularly advises corporate clients on matters relating to incorporation of Companies, issue of securities through prospectus, Joint Venture Agreements, Stock Exchange and Securities & Exchange Board of India compliances, transfer of shares and Board and Shareholders' meetings. Has acted as scrutinizer in conducting Postal Ballots of leading Companies

INVOLVEMENT WITH INSTITUTIONS
 
  • He was elected to the Western India Regional Council of the Institute of Company Secretaries of India (ICSI) for two terms (1989-91 and 1992-94) and served in various capacities - Treasurer, Secretary, Vice-Chairman and Chairman.

  • He also conceived and planned for setting up of Centre for Corporate Research and Training (CCRT) of ICSI at a cost of Rs.3.25 crores at New Bombay and was its Chairman during 1992-94 and was still actively associated in the construction stage. He has been instrumental in raising substantial corporate and individual donations aggregating to more than Rs. 20 lacs for CCRT.

  • He was the founder Chairman of Ghatkopar, Study Circle of WIRC of ICSI (1985-88).

  • Hon. Associate Regional Editor of Corporate Law Advisor.

  1. Has taken classes on Company Law papers for final students at Oral Coaching Centre at Sydenham College;

  2. Conceived and conducted the first Modular Training Programme of ICSI in Western Region in Bombay in 1987;

  3. Addressed Regional Conferences/National Conventions and other Seminars on professional programmes;

  4. Addressed Company Secretaries of Nepal at Kathmandu in a seminar organised by UTI Institute of Capital Markets;
